Maj. Gen S. K. Datt, retired from the Indian Army as a Major General in February 1996, after a distinguished career
in the armed forces of over 37 years, where he held various command, instructional, administrative and staff
appointments. For his distinguished services, he was awarded the Vishisht Sewa Medal by the President of India.
After his retirement, he served in the Cabinet Secretariat, Government of India till February 1998. Major General
Datt has a PhD in Defence Studies. He also has a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Administration and a Post Graduate
Diploma in Business Management. He is a Life Member of the Institute of Public Administration, United Services
Institution of India, Institute of Defence Studies and Analysis and a Fellow of the All India Management Association.
He is a Mentor with the BYST (Bhartiya Yuva Shakti Trust - Affiliated with the Prince of Wales Foundation UK) and the
Confederation of Indian Industries, and is on the Entrepreneurship Selection Panel of BYST Faridabad. He has won
several mentoring awards from BYST. He is also a prolific writer and has published articles in various magazines.
He is widely respected for his professionalism and social service, and has conducted training both in India and in
foreign countries He has also been a visiting faculty to a number of Universities, Schools and organizations.
Presently he is the President of the Sainik Welfare Forum, Faridabad looking after the welfare of retired armed
forces personnel; soldiers handicapped during wars, war widows and orphaned children. At PRAKASH DEEP he is a
man of action with whose willing and untiring support, the school is moving forward.
