Dr. Lavlin Thadani

Dr. Lavlin Thadani - Vice President

Dr. Lavlin Thadani has a Ph.D in Russian Literature and has worked as a teacher in the school of foreign languages and as an editor of the Children's page in the Hindustan Times. She is a journalist and photojournalist, having contributed to leading publications such as India Today, Sunday and others.

Her creativity has found expression in highly acclaimed numerous exhibitions held at Triveni Kala Sangam, New Delhi and at Jehangir Art Gallery, Mumbai. She has held solo exhibitions on integration between the spastic and the normal children which were mounted in various cities of the world and won high acclaim. She has also published story books for children.

Most of all she is a sensitive poetess of great repute. Her Book Moments penetrates the deepest recesses of your inner self. Presently she is the President of 'MAMTA' - a premier NGO committed to providing integrated services for comprehensive development of the adolescent girl child. 'MAMTA' won international acclaim by being selected as a winner in the White Robbin Alliance Global Contest. In November 1996 she attended an intensive two week workshop on making programmes for children under expert guidance of Peter Moss organised by the UNICEF and Doordarshan jointly in November 1996.

She has worked in the External Services Division of All India Radio for seven years in administration, production of features, broadcasting on a daily basis and interviewing foreign and Indian dignitaries including Mrs. Gandhi on three occasions, Rajiv Gandhi, A.B.Vajpayee, Lal Krishna Advani, L. Brezhnev, Gromyiko and Kosyigin, Peter O' Toole, Shankar Jaikishan, Lata Mangeshkar, Mother Teresa and other luminaries.

She is a film-maker of repute and has produced and directed several popular tele-films and serials for Doordarshan and other government agencies which have represented India at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival. She is a Trustee of 'India Vision Foundation' - a charitable trust headed by Ms. Kiran Bedi - involved with corrective, collective and community based transformational programmes for crime-affected persons with special focus on the well being of their children.
